About Lakeside High School Baseball

Lakeside High School, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is part of the DeKalb County School System. Lakeside students have excelled in both academics and athletics since the school opened in 1965. Many awards and honors have reflected the outstanding dedication to academic and athletic excellence by the students, parents, coaches, and staff. In 1985, Lakeside was honored as a State and National School of Excellence, which is an honor that reflects the positive relationship between the school and community. In Newsweek magazine’s 2008 list of the best public high schools in the nation, Lakeside was ranked 2nd in Georgia. In 2012, the Washington Post High School Challenge List rated Lakeside 289th nationally, 13th in Georgia, and 1st in DeKalb County.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, the Lakeside Vikings will begin play in Georgia High School Association Class 6A in Region 4.

The Dugout Club Overview

The Lakeside High School Dugout Club, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation that was formed to assist the baseball program of Lakeside High School comprised of the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School teams (Gold and Purple). The functions of the Dugout Club include promoting the general welfare of student athletes, increasing school spirit and sportsmanship, and raising money to support Lakeside baseball.

Membership in the Dugout Club includes the parents/guardians of players on the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School teams; former players and their parents/guardians; the Lakeside Principal; Lakeside baseball coaches; and interested members of the community. Our email address is: LakesideDugoutClub@gmail.com. Annual dues are $30 per family [subject to change]. Elections for Dugout Club officers are held at the end of each spring baseball season.

To provide transparency and maintain confidence in the actions of the Dugout Club’s Board, the Dugout Club will provide written documents, such as general meeting minutes, financial reports, budgets, proposals, etc. upon request. Members are referred to the Dugout Club’s Constitution and By-Laws, also available online, for a more thorough understanding of the organization.

Dugout Club Receives 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Status
The Lakeside High School Dugout Club, Inc., received tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code effective as of March 10, 2008. In light of this status, contributions to the Dugout Club are deductible under section 170 of the Code. In addition, the Dugout Club is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under sections 2055, 2016 or 2522 of the Code.
